RIP: The ASSimilationists Win Saturday, May 31 2008

This round, anyway…but where there’s death, there is potential for resurrection. Just be careful not to move into a glass house paid for by billionaires who throw stones.

Liberation theology is dead. It hasn’t had a new thought in years. So pronounced a distinguished Canadian theologian to me during a personal conversation several years ago. Fortunately, this professor was wrong.

Bob Barr Sure is SORRY

A MISTAKE? OK, I’m all for apologies and uncomfortable reconciliations with estranged relatives who think you’re actually going to hell and stuff. But I have difficulty with 2-faced politicians apologizing years later for authoring legislation that made me half a citizen.

Maybe it’s because I’m from Alabama where the people pretend George Wallace and Jefferson Davis were great heroes, but I’m just not getting any warm fuzzy for Mr. Barr.

Libertarianism is like schizophrenia to me: I feel sympathetic in wanting a viable 3rd party, but not if thy create yet another duplicitous politician to get it!

Kiss my grits, Bob Barr!

Exactly who is protecting our youth?

Yesterday we reported on two Exodus-affiliated leaders who claimed that there were only two choices facing struggling gay kids and adults: Change or die. Now we learn that Exodus President Alan Chambers has reinforced this false choice in an interview with radio talk show host Chris Farby on May 16th. Towards the end of the program, Alan Chambers was asked about teen suicide:

go down with dignity, not like this!

“That comment may be the last nail in her campaign’s coffin,” a Kennedy relative told The Post. “How can Hillary even use the experience argument when she repeatedly pushes the wrong buttons in her comments?”

An insider added, “I think people really felt that a line was crossed and that her campaign - and even her legitimacy as a politician - ended today.”

Disqualifying Herself Sunday, May 25 2008

clipped from www.esoterically.net

Hillary Clinton has disqualified herself for either the presidency or the vice presidency. She probably should not even be a senator, but there’s isn’t much we can do about that now. Those who are willing to overlook her hateful and ill-intentioned remark are blind to the realities of the age in which we live. It is past time for the leadership of the Democratic party to show some leadership and insist that she withdraw immediately from the race for the Democratic nomination for the presidency of the United States.

Push her out? She can go condo shopping in Dubai with the Cheney’s for all I care.

While Senator Hillary Clinton was in South Dakota giving an interview to the local Sioux Falls newspaper, she talked about people who were trying to push her out. She said, “My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California.”

Hillary on Florida & Michigan Thursday, May 22 2008

The moral cost she compares to abolitionism and suffragettes…huh?

The political cost is trust, she says, however the party is saying we trust Obama more than you.

Lose graciously, please, Ms. Clinton.

“If we fail to do so, I worry that we will pay not only a moral cost, but a political cost as well,” she said. “We know the road to a Democratic White House runs right through Florida and Michigan. If we care about winning those states in November, we need to count your votes now. If Democrats send a message that we don’t fully value your votes, we know Sen. McCain and the Republicans will be more than happy to have them. The Republicans will make a simple and compelling argument: why should Florida and Michigan voters trust the Democratic Party to look out for you when they won’t even listen to you.”
